The reason why people think that gift cards are a horrible gift idea is because many people forget that they even got one. That's why it's important to pick out a gift card that really relates to the recipient and their career.
I hate to say it but an EMT or Paramedic is probably the lowest paying department in the medical field. So a present that allows us to eat for free or get drinks for free is a great last minute gift idea. Many restaurants and drink locations have great looking gift cards.
